Free shingles vaccination
Free shingles vaccination available to more Australians from November 1st.
Immunocompromised adults, people over the age of 65 years and Indigenous Australians over the age of 50 years will have free protection against shingles from 1 November 2023 as part of changes to the National Immunisation Program.
Shingles is caused by the same virus as chicken pox but can cause severe nerve pain. Further information about changes to the program can be found below.
