Dementia Support Programs
Empowering carers to provide better support for their loved ones
Caring for someone with mild to moderate dementia can be deeply personal and demanding journey, filled with joy and with challenges. At Carers ACT, we recognise the unique challenges carers face and offer a suite of tailored support programs designed to meet your needs while prioritising your wellbeing.
Our suite of programs includes:
Staying at home
This fully funded 4 week program ending in an over-night retreat (1 – 2 days) provides practical education and advice from dementia care experts, group activities, and an introduction to respite services. Participants stay in a fully catered, comfortable environment designed to foster social connections and build confidence in accessing care.
SPICE for life
A 10-week program that combines enjoyable activities like storytelling, music, and games with gentle exercises and facilitated peer support groups. Designed to promote cognitive stimulation and physical wellbeing, this program ensures both carers and their loved ones feel engaged and supported. Held at Carers ACT in Holt, it is led by allied health professionals and supported by University of Canberra students.
Cottage Respite Program
Flexible, affordable respite options that give carers the opportunity to take a break while their loved ones receive attentive care in a safe, welcoming environment. Day, evening, and overnight stays are available to suit your schedule and needs.
Each program is carefully designed to empower carers with the tools, resources, and connections needed to navigate the demands of caregiving while enhancing the quality of life for those they care for.
