Your Space is up and running but wait there’s more! Based on your feedback, we now have two sessions available starting from 30 March 2023. Come to one or both sessions – Thursdays, 5.30pm to 8.30pm and/or Sundays, 11.30am to 2.30pm!
Your Space is a free pilot service for both a carer and a person experiencing mental ill-health 16 years and over.
Carers ACT and Woden Community Service (WCS) have brought together their expertise in their respective fields to design Your Space.
Your Space creates a safe engaging space for people experiencing mental ill-health to connect with their peers in a social setting without their carers. Carers are welcome however ideally; we want to create an opportunity for carers to have a break/take some respite. This break might enable you to catch up with a friend or family member for a cuppa, go for a walk, check out the shops, catch a movie or just relax.
Based in Woden, Your Space is a service specifically designed for people experiencing mental ill-health who are independent with symptoms being stable/manageable.
Your Space offers a safe and supervised space for a variety of structured and unstructured activities weekly on Thursdays and Sundays – all for free! Activities are always overseen by friendly qualified and trained support workers, Nakul, Onam and Jodie, with the number of attendees capped to provide quality one-on-one time. Activities offered are focused around building social and daily skills, developing friendships, and making connections. Some upcoming activities for April include trips to the National Art and Portrait galleries, ten pin bowling, painting and café outing, BB, dinner nights cooking flavours from around the world. Other activities include pool competition, table tennis, basketball, computer games/internet access, games or a quite chilled out space to do whatever.
