Supporting Carers in Southern NSW

Carers ACT is funded by the Australian Government to provide support to family and friend carers in Southern NSW.  Our purpose is to nurture, connect and empower carers through practical support such as arranging replacement care so carers can have a break.

We support more than 1000 carers each year from areas in the Southern highlands of NSW as indicated in the map below.

Eligibility

  • Carers must be registered with our service.  For more information, visit Register as a Carer
  • You must be the main carer (except in the case of young carers needing educational support)
  • You provide ongoing care to a person who is frail aged, has a chronic illness or disability for at least six months (except for palliative care).

Not all the services and supports offered by Carers ACT are available to residents of Southern NSW due to geographical restrictions of our funding (for example, counselling). In this instance, we will refer NSW carers to their local support network or to Carers NSW.
