Respite Care and Carers ACT
Carers ACT welcomes the Australian Labor Party’s commitment to provide $10 million towards respite beds in the ACT.
Carers ACT provides a range of respite tailored packages through the Carer Gateway service. The Carer Gateway Service allows Carers to explore the services that are right for them and their caring needs. This may include respite services. Where Carers are eligible, the Gateway can provide packages that are designed to provide services and supports specific to carers individual needs.
Respite beds delivered by Carers ACT through its respite cottages are now taking bookings from Carers for respite care for May and June.
During the recent ACT election, the ACT Labor Government committed to the allocation of land to build expanded respite and carer support facilities to further increase the current respite bed capacity in the ACT. We look forward to further negotiating this commitment with the ACT Government.
