Do You Love Photography?

02 Feb 2018

Carers are finding photography to be both an excellent stress management tool and a great opportunity to have the supportive company of like-minded carers who understand what they’re going through.

Photography Workshops

Carers ACT periodically run beginner and intermediate photography workshops (check our ‘What’s On’ page). We also have a photography group, who meet with an instructor to practise and develop their camera skills at various venues around Canberra, such as Australian National Botanic Gardens and the National Gallery of Australia. The group had so much fun at the workshops that they wanted to continue meeting. They have formed new friendships and even set up Instagram accounts so they can share their photos.

If you would like to hear about the next outing, email to be added to the camera club mailing list.

Stress Management Tool

This activity not only provides carers with a break and an opportunity to connect with other carers, but also enables them to develop skills in a new interest or hobby that they can pursue in their own time as a stress management tool.

“As a carer of a daughter, brother and aged parents, I realised that I had to make time just for me so I could de-stress, relax and recharge my batteries. I decided to try the Carers ACT photography course. I’m hooked on this new hobby now and it’s a great break from the constant stresses at home. (Margrit, carer)
