Carers ACT is a registered service provider under the myagedcare Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).
Carers ACT is subsidised to support eligible clients in the areas of:
Goods, equipment and assistive technology
- Communication aids
- Support and mobility aids
- Self-care aids
- Reading aids
- Other goods and equipment
- Occupational therapy (OT) assessment for provision of equipment
How to access this service
You will need to have a Referral Code for Goods, Equipment & Assistive Technology OR Allied Health/Occupational Therapy as provided by a My Aged Care Assessor.
Your Assessor can make a direct referral to us on your behalf. In this case, once we receive the referral, we will call you to discuss your needs.
You are also able to contact us directly with your referral information. This service is available from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday by calling 6296 9922.
We can assist with the purchase of equipment or occupational therapy assessment up to the value of $500. We request a client contribution of 25% towards the cost of the equipment.
If this fee is unaffordable, Carers ACT will discuss and agree an affordable fee. Clients will not be refused service on ability to pay.

Don’t have a referral code?
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is an entry level home help program for older people who need some help to live independently at home.
You may be eligible for services under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme if you are:
- 65 years or older, or 50 years or older and identify as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person, or 50 years or older and on a low income, homeless or at risk of homelessness
- still living at home
- in need of help at home to continue to live independently.
