We work continually to build awareness and recognition of carers and their needs, and to improve the range of services, systems and supports available to them.
Through our research, policy and systemic advocacy activities we aim to identify and research emerging issues and gather evidence to support our policy work for carers.
We represent carers by:
- submitting policy documents to government
- participating in government advisory groups
- consulting with key stakeholders and voicing carers’ issues on committees or working parties
We are committed to ensuring that the voices and views of carers are included when government policy and service delivery systems are planned and evaluated.
Supporting care within families and communities will provide dignity and choice for all groups. Acknowledging the interdependence of people who provide care and those they support is a necessity.
ACT Carers Strategy is a joint initiative between Carers ACT and the ACT Government to develop a ten year strategy to make Canberra more carer-friendly – in awareness, support and resources.
Mental Health Carers Voice is a program designed to help bring about change for a better system of support for families caring for someone with a mental illness
Representing Your Views We are committed to ensuring that the voices and views of carers are included when government policy and service delivery systems are planned and evaluated.
Carers And Research We undertake our own research and consultations to improve outcomes for carers and they people they care for, and we support carer research and consultations by other organisations.
