SUMMARY:Weekly Meditation Class - Live streamed or in Person
DESCRIPTION:Need some quiet time to yourself or to declutter your mind? Don’t have an hour spare? Have access to the internet?\nThen join us for a new weekly meditation class\, incorporating mindfulness activities\, where you attend in person or tune in via streaming for the whole hour or for twenty minutes segments…and still enjoy the benefits! \nThis new class will incorporate:\n\n20 minutes of breath work\, from 11.30am to 11.50am;\n20 minutes of mindfulness activities\, from 11.50am to 12.10pm; and\n20 minutes of a relaxing meditation\, from 12.10pm to 12.30pm.\n\nIt has been designed to help carers who can’t make it to a class due to caring responsibilities\, time\, work or other commitments\, however may like to participate and enjoy the many benefits of meditation. It is well documented that meditation and mindfulness may assist with reducing stress and anxiety\, improving focus and concentration\, improving sleep quality and enhancing self-awareness and more. \nIf you have never tried meditation and don’t know what to expect\, give it a go in the privacy of your own house.  \nCarers who have attended meditation classes have made the following comments: \n\nI am much more relaxed and happy after doing something for myself. Carrying over relaxation techniques helps to decrease stress at home and unwind after crazy days.  \nI am a lot calmer and therefore makes me a better carer and I sleep better as I applied the techniques learnt especially the breathing technique.\nI noticed that I can handle stress better and I feel that I am equipped with more strategies and tools to handle stress and issues that affects me. I used the tips and techniques that I have learnt from meditation and apply it at home.\n\nRSVP – CLICK HERE\nCarers ACT will be live streaming this session. DESCRIPTION:Carers ACT is a registered service provider under the Australian Government’s My Aged Care Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). \nAs an entry-level to the program\, the CHSP is designed to provide low intensity support to older people who need a small amount of assistance to enable them to maintain their independence and continue to live safely in their homes and participate in their communities. \nYou may be eligible for services under the CHSP if you are:\n\n65 years or older\, or 50 years or older and identify as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person\, or 50 years or older and on a low income\nin need of help at home to continue to live independently.\n\nCarers ACT is subsidised to support eligible clients in the areas of:\n\nGoods\, Equipment and Assistive Technology – helping clients to purchase mobility supports and communication aids\nOccupational therapy (OT) Home Safety Assessment – arranging a free client assessment in the home to identify appropriate supports\nSenior Social Support (either in a group or individually) – helping people who are isolated to become more connected\n\nCome along to this free presentation and find out if you or the person you care for\, is eligible for the CHSP program and how we can support you to access services. You do not need to be registered as a carer to attend this session. As Belle\, a young woman in a provincial town\, and the Beast\, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. Equipping carers with the tools to identify areas of influence and control on stress\, and manage stress more effectively. \nThis workshop is aimed at carers of people with a mental illness but other carers may attend. \nCost – $8 General Admission & $5 Live Streaming\nRSVP – CLICK HERE\nCarers ACT will be live streaming this session. If you are unable to attend on the day but would like to view the live stream of the session from your electronic device (such as mobile phone\, tablet\, or computer)\, please register a “Streaming” ticket. If you select a “Streaming” ticket\, you will receive a separate email at least two days prior to the advertised date and time with a link to click on the session. By attending and participating in this session\, you consent to video\, images and audio of yourself and those you are responsible for being used in this manner. SUMMARY:Carers Southside Weekly Meditation Class
DESCRIPTION:Need some time for yourself to chill out or to declutter your mind?\nTake an hour out for yourself by joining our new weekly meditation class. Meditation is both a skill and an experience. By practising regular meditation\, this may offer you many health benefits\, such as reduced stress and anxiety\, improved concentration and quality of sleep. \nNo experience is necessary – just wear comfortable clothes\, dress in layers and bring a water bottle.\nEach week\, our experienced teacher Belinda will guide you through various different meditations\, incorporating some mindfulness activities. Leave feeling relaxed and calmer…what have you got to lose! \nCarers who have practised regular meditation before have made the following comments: \n\nI am much more relaxed and happy after doing something for myself. Carrying over relaxation techniques helps to decrease stress at home and unwind after crazy days.  \nI am a lot calmer and therefore makes me a better carer and I sleep better as I applied the techniques learnt especially the breathing technique.\nI noticed that I can handle stress better and I feel that I am equipped with more strategies and tools to handle stress and issues that affects me. I used the tips and techniques that I have learnt from meditation and apply it at home.\n\nCost: $5 per carer per session.\nRegistration to attend is essential by emailing rsvp@carersact.org.au or by calling 6296 9982. \n
