Carers and your family members are invited to join us for our 25th Anniversary Party. This party is our way of celebrating the heart, courage and vulnerability of caring relationships and the journey we have taken together over the last 25 years. And its all for FREE!
There will be food stalls, entertainment for all ages, ranger guided walks and talks, musical performances and a garden illumination finale.
This is an outdoor event held on the Eucalypt Lawns at the Botanic Gardens. There will be free on-site parking at the Visitor Centre from 4pm and guests can follow the walking path to the Eucalypt Lawns. The area is accessible by wheel-chair and we can provide transport assistance for people with mobility concerns from the car park to the Lawns (and return).
Registered companion animals are permitted. Some chairs and tables will be available but we encourage you to BYO picnic blankets. Please note – this is an alcohol free event.
The following outlines more specific event information to assist you and your family.
WEATHER CONDITIONS – This is an outdoor event. Please consider weather conditions on the day for attendance, eg, sun-screen, picnic blanket, sun hat, umbrella.
EVENT CANCELLATION – If there is inclement weather on the day, please check our website and social media for a cancellation notice at 12noon.
LOCATION – The Party will take place at the Eucalypt Lawns at the National Botanic Gardens.
PARKING – Free parking will be available from 4pm at the Botanic Gardens Public Car Park. Parking is NOT available at the Eucalypt Lawns.
ACCESS – The Eucalypt Lawn is accessible on a walking path and suitable for wheel-chairs. Registered companion animals are welcome, however no other pets/animals are allowed in the Gardens. If you have a specific transportation or access request, please detail this on your registration form so that Carers ACT can contact you to discuss this.
FOOD & BEVERAGE – This is an alcohol free event. There will be a variety of food and beverage options including vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy free however guests with more specific food requirements may like to bring their own provisions.
ABORIGINAL WELCOME – Guests with asthma and/or allergies should be aware that the Official Opening will include a traditional Aboriginal smoking ceremony.
FACILITIES – Toilets, including fully accessible ones, free water stations and a designated smoking area will be available. Some shaded areas with tables and chairs will be provided. St Johns Ambulance will be in attendance.
ASSISTANCE AT THE EVENT – There will be Carers ACT staff and Park Rangers available on site for directions and to assist you.
