We understand that sometimes the unexpected happens. When you have an emergency or crisis and need to arrange for alternative care outside of office hours (9am-5pm), we’re here for you.

When to Access the Emergency After Hours Service

If you have an emergency or crisis that can’t wait until office hours, you can contact our after-hours service on 1800 052 222.

Calls on weekends and public holidays and weekday calls after 5pm and before 9am will automatically transfer to our after hours service.

*NOTE. After the end of March 2020 you will need to access emergency respite through the new Carer Gateway carer support system. Find out more here.

What Happens When You Call the After Hours Service

We have contracted another service provider to provide this service. Your after hours call will automatically be transferred to a worker who will ask the nature of the emergency and try to arrange immediate respite if required. On the following business day, a staff member will contact you to follow up and assist you with any additional respite needs.

If the line is busy when you call, please leave a message and we will contact you as soon as possible.

How To Prepare for an Emergency

We can provide you with a Registered Carer Card for your wallet. The card has a place for you to write your emergency contact person details. We recommend that you have an up-to-date emergency care plan that you carry with you and also give to your emergency contact.
